The time in between catching an amazing Alaska Rainbow Trout on the river at Bristol Bay is spent enjoying the breathtaking scenery. It is not uncommon to see mother bears with their cubs in toe, lumber down the river edge for a drink or a moose gracefully swimming across the river. Many times I have enjoyed the surprise of what a thought to be a log on the beach was actually a moose having a nap and raising his head as we troll by. Seeing falcon’s whizzing by our heads and then sitting on the branches of the threes watching us as we motor by is such a feast for the eyes.

The site of the dept of fisheries catches in their nets is exciting to watch as we prepare our gear to get onto the river and try our best to catch the massive Alaska Rainbow trout we have just witnessed being measured and weighed by the crew and then released,

The experience of wading in the river and catching a Rainbow Trout after the fish has spent its fight and then seeing it at your feet and releasing back into the river is an amazing feeling. The water is so clear and the feeling of the rushing water is something to experience. Pound for pound these Rainbow trout fight like titans peel and run before surrendering to the pressure on the rod and gracefully wait patiently to be released. So bright in color and so incredibly huge and strong they are truley the most beautiful of rainbow trout Alaska has to offer.
